Doctrine and Covenants 4:1-3 teaches that “a marvelous work is about to come forth” and that we should serve God with all our “heart, might, mind, and strength.” Social media is a super strong tool that we can use for a “marvelous work.”
The ways I have seen people use social media for a marvelous work it by creating and posting content that genuinely uplifts others, as opposed to bringing them down. Depending on what platform it is or what you interact with to influence your algorithm, you could see things such as scriptures, quotes, or personal testimonies! My favorite method that I have seen people post uplifting content is through posting service they do. I know that there are people who only do good things on social media for the fame and clout, but they’re still doing those good things. Can we really complain?
The uplifting content can often spread past the target audience, because the more that we “interact” with a post (likes, comments, shares), the more that a social media algorithm will push the content to be viewed more.
I’ve also seen social media be used to get other people some assistance. Personally, my car was broken into about a year ago, and my friend posted about it on social media. She was able to fundraise $200 to repair my window. I am grateful every time I look out that window for the kind people on the internet who donated their money for me.
What is a way that you have seen social media used for the marvelous work?
